This Tubular knit hat is able to be worn a variety of ways. Can be doubled with a tapered flap hanging to one side of the head or folded completely in and turned up around the brim for 4 layers of warm wool around the ears. The pattern I have developed is based on a hat recovered from the "Machault" ship This medium weight hat is period accurate for the17th century, 18th century-mid 19th century and today!
Bartlett 100% wool Sports weight yarn is used for this hand knit toque (also called a French toque or an English voyager hat).
If I don't have the color or size in stock, no worries! It may take just a couple of weeks to get it knit for you. Just pre-order and I will right on it! Hand spun yarn can be special ordered, this may take 1-2 months to spin and knit for you. Please contact me for color availability. All yarn has been shrunk before knitting.

Washing instructions: Place in laundry bag, machine wash gentle cycle, keep water temperature same, lay flat to dry.
