I already had the loom warped with natural Linen threads, 42" across. The stripes will be going up and down in the finished Petticoat. Like most of my Petticoat Patterns, there is mostly natural wool with the colors added. This is the way most were done traditionally in the 18th Century. They also interspersed the natural wool in between stripes of the colors. This spreads the color stripe, making it look wide but not using as much of the costly, time consuming dyed wool.
